Should LEGO license The Walking Dead?
You would think signing a brand like “The Walking Dead” would be a no brainer considering the rage for zombies today in our society! LEGO has already released one zombie set in the LEGO Monster Fighters theme called “The Zombies” which retailed at $39.99 and that set was massively popular, selling on ebay for over $100!
The Walking Dead television series is based on the comic book series created by Robert Kirkman. The series is based around a sheriff named Rick Grimes, who has become an icon for zombie fans. The television series has gone on to break many records, receiving 12.4 million viewers for its season three finale to become the most-watched drama series telecast in basic cable history!
This brand would a hit for sure for LEGO. Personally I think LEGO The Walking Dead sets would sell as well as the LEGO Minecraft set sold. The Walking Dead is a huge brand and zombies are huge at the moment!
Hopefully LEGO will consider picking up this brand. However at the moment LEGO seems to be avoiding the adult brands, an example was when LEGO denied the Cuusoo project “The Winchester – Shaun of the Dead“. One of our own staff members wrote several interesting articles on this topic a few months ago that might appeal to you. “Cuusoo Rejections: The right thing to do?” and “LEGO Lines I’d love to see that’ll NEVER get made”
In the end, we’ll probably never see a LEGO The Walking Dead set, sadly, however there is hope! Considering Mega Bloks licensed the “Halo” brand, hopefully Mega Bloks will be smart and decide to secure this brand. This could be a huge move for Mega Bloks! Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoyed the article. What do you think about this possible brand?
