Hey guys, welcome to the MOC of the Week Section. Future MOC selections will be taken from our BrickUltra Flickr group so you can join that here: CLICK HERE. This week we’ll be featuring the “Cassiterite Base Sector 1418” created by Flickr user Andrew JN.

LEGO MOC of the Week - Cassiterite Base Sector 1418

Here’s the MOC Description:
Here it is! David and I built this over the course of 5 months (because we could only build an hour here, or two hours there every so often) and we brought it to Brickfair NJ. We don’t know what the piece count is, but we are guessing it’s somewhere around 15,000 – 20,000 pieces. We used Bricklink (twice) for the first time, and it won’t be the last! The “glass” for the control room is purist, we used the plastic that the LOTR pirate ship sails were in so that it would have the right look. The greebling inside was lots of fun. Yes, the door between the two rooms can be opened. We built it in two pieces that connect on the water and on the cannon on top (one plate and a few bricks come off when we separate it). And yes, the two parts are for the most part my side and his side. The landing pad is quite strong, no adjusting was needed once the final design was implemented. All in all, a very satisfying build. More pictures and DIP photos (destruction in progress…we didn’t take WIP photos) will be on MOCpages later.
