We recently received a copy of the book Brick by Brick: How LEGO Rewrote the Rules of Innovation and Conquered the Global Toy Industry by David C. Robertson. The book follows the history of the LEGO Group and how they managed to avert going bankrupt. Mr. Robertson’s book highlights many of the successes and failures faced by the LEGO Group. An interesting part of the book is the event in which LEGO feels like they need to modernize the LEGO Minifigure which resulted in the Jack Stone line of LEGO Sets.
The Jack Stone line featured an updated LEGO Minifigure that was both taller and non-customizable. This proved to be disastrous for the LEGO Group, nearly making them go bankrupt. For any fan on LEGO this is a really interesting read and I would strongly advise you pick up a copy of the book and read the history of the LEGO Group for yourself.
